Greetings from HAVarts
Jacquelyn Hayes, HAVarts Executive Director

My name is Jacquelyn Hayes and I am the founder of Hayes Advocacy for Vegas Arts, HAVarts.org.

HAVarts, a 501 (c) (3) organization, was started in spring 2023 to support fine arts excellence here in the Las Vegas community. We support visual arts, local musicians and composers, writers, and dancers by hosting events and programs and telling you about interesting activities to the best of our abilities!

HAVarts has hosted two successful exhibitions including a number of docent tours. We borrowed or purchased art, prepped it for the exhibitions, created marketing materials to drive traffic to the shows, and handled numerous administration tasks. We rolled up our sleeves and emptied our piggy banks. We are eternally grateful to the volunteers and professionals who graciously supported us with their services. And now, we are ready to move forward.

HAVarts wants a tsunami of art lovers to join us in talking about and participating in the rich arts culture that is part of our Las Vegas community.

The mission of HAVarts is to enlarge the group of art lovers in Vegas and fully patronize existing art opportunities. To do this, I am asking you to kindly make a financial donation to HAVarts.

Americans for the Arts

Support the National Endowment for the Arts

Please contact your US representative to let them know that no cuts should be made to funding for the arts.

The primary purpose of this agency is to provide money to visual artists, creative writers, state and regional nonprofit arts organizations. This is a worthy cause since entrance fees to museums and fine arts venues continue to increase while public school programs that facilitate access to the arts are reduced.

Educators, academics, philosophers and mental health professionals know and extol the value, importance and healing properties of art. The Telegraph, (a UK publication) states that “looking at a gorgeous painting, sculpture, or other artwork increases blood flow to the brain by as much as 10% -- the equivalent of looking at someone you love.”

Summerlin Piano Studio

Congratulations Summerlin Piano Studio Pianists!

Seventeen students from Juliana Kuo’s Summerlin Piano Studio achieved top honors at the September 30th 2023 Jazz Festival.

Each year about 100 K-12 students participate in the rigorous competition at the Jazz Festival and Summerlin Piano’s students produce outstanding performers. This year was no exception.

Juliana Kuo founded the Summerlin Piano Studio In 2017. In 2018 she was awarded Top Piano Teacher in Nevada by Steinway & Son in 2018. Year after year Ms. Kuo’s students are winners in local, state, and national competitions.

Ms. Kuo is an award-winning music educator with more than 30 years of experience. She graduated with honors from National Taiwan Normal University (one of the best music departments in Taiwan). Ms. Kuo immigrated to the United States in 1986 where she studied piano at George Mason University (GMU) with the late Elvin Schmitt and Juilliard graduate and prodigy Edward Newman.

We at HAVarts adore Bach and love listing to his work at recitals. We may have to plan something special just for our music enthusiasts to hear some of Bach’s compositions. Meanwhile, if you are looking for ways to keep your mind sharp, start tickling the ivories, or attend the 2023 Silver State Competition to listen to the Summerlin studio students.
